Pada mulanya, grup ini beranggotakan Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, dan Kevin Richardson. Namun, pada tahun 2006 salah satu personelnya, Kevin Richardson memutuskan untuk keluar dari grup agar dapat meluangkan waktu lebih banyak dengan keluarganya. Meskipun demikian, hubungannya dengan para personel lain masih terjaga dengan baik.
